Host a future ICPC

The steering committee solicits, considers and approves proposals for each edition of ICPC, including its site and dates and the appointment of its general and program chairs. Proposals from anyone active in the program comprehension community are welcome.

How it works

Since 2018, ICPC has been co-located with the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), and the steering committee expects this to continue: ICSE's host city fixes the location, and ICPC takes place in the two days immediately before the main ICSE program. A hosting proposal is therefore mostly about people. The committee is looking for a general chair who will own the budget, logistics and the relationship with ICSE, and program chairs who will assemble the program committee and run reviewing.

Proposals are usually discussed at the open steering committee meeting held during ICPC and decided by the committee in the months after, about two years ahead of the edition in question. General and program chairs may not submit papers to the edition they chair.

What to include

  • Proposed general chair(s) and program chair(s), with a short note on their experience organizing or reviewing for ICPC and related venues.
  • Edition and dates: which ICSE the edition would co-locate with.
  • Ideas for the program: keynotes, tracks you would keep or add, community events, and anything that would make the edition distinctive.
  • Diversity of the team across institutions, regions and career stages.
  • Any constraints or questions the committee should know about.
